Awin Talks: Black Friday 2020 review
About the episode
Kevin, Rob and Joelle discuss the main takeaways from another record-breaking Cyber Weekend, and Button’s Michael Jaconi joins us to talk US digital trends.
It keeps on getting bigger and bigger! Black Friday was another online shopping extravaganza this year, and in this month’s Awin Talks episode we take a closer look at some of the trends Awin tracked across its global network over the course of the event. With many local regions still in lockdown because of the pandemic, it came as no surprise that many consumers took to the web to ensure they could continue to grab themselves a deal.
So what did we learn from this year’s highly unusual circumstances? Which sectors performed better than others, and what kinds of partners and affiliates saw the biggest increases in popularity? Co-hosts Kevin, Joelle and Rob discuss Awin has tracked over the Black Friday period.
On our regular Meet the Market feature, Rob speaks to Michael Jaconi - co-founder and CEO of mobile commerce platform Button - to find out about the state of digital and affiliate in the US. Michael’s been involved in the industry for many years and he shines a light on how US e-commerce is evolving in the wake of COVID-19 and where he thinks the next big opportunity in the affiliate world exists.
Speaking of Button, Awin’s partnership with them through their Reach solution is already revealing some fascinating results that their Head of Partnerships Dennis O’Reilly expands upon in this recent interview.
Also on the podcast, we discuss Awin’s talks at the recent PI LIVE virtual conference (which are free to view here), and a successful month of award wins at the Digiday Technology Awards, and the International Performance Marketing Awards (six wins!)
Finally, Joelle shared some recent UK insights on the health and beauty sector that can be explored further in this article, as well as an upcoming planned webinar focused on the travel sector in the UK that you can find out more about and register for here.
