Frontend Software Engineer (f/m/d)

Role description

As a full-stack Software Engineer you will be part of a cross-functional service-oriented team, working on extending and maintaining our Affiliate Marketing platform. Your responsibilities include writing clean, secure, and well-tested code, following best-practice guidelines, and collaborating with the team to operate and enhance assigned parts of the platform.

You will have a significant impact in terms of efficiency, problem-solving, and mentoring colleagues. Additionally, you will work closely with the product owner and team members to translate user needs into technical solutions. Throughout the lifecycle of a service or product, from requirements to deployment, support, and maintenance, you will take a leading role, considering deadlines, balancing effort and outcome, and proactively addressing risks.

Your contribution will be vital in overcoming challenges and ensuring that our service continues to meet the needs of our business and customers.

The Team

You will be joining our Rewards tribe, a cross functional team which sits in a core part of the business. We let our advertisers define how they want to reward our publishers, and we manage transactions using an event driven architecture. We use an exciting array of technologies, including Java/Spring, AWS Lambda, Kafka, NodeJS, SQL/NoSQL databases, Angular, Jenkins, Docker, and more.

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Work inside a small team and be comfortable with agile methodologies and practices
  • Proactively advocate for technical improvements and help defining the priorities
  • Improve existing applications, design and build solutions from scratch
  • Develop code and contribute to reviews, retrospectives, planning and development sessions
  • Shape development technologies and practices
  • Follow best-practice guidelines and processes and help to improve those
  • Work with Product Managers to convert user stories to features and tasks
  • Grapple with business logic and help solve business needs
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in a timely fashion
  • Communicate effectively in both verbal (day-to-day discussions, team meetings) and written forms (documentation, emails, communication tools) with local and remote team members

Whilst the above is a guide to general expectation of the role, we expect this position to evolve allowing you greater scope to gain both knowledge and experience within the online and affiliate marketplace.

Skills & Expertise

Required

  • At least 3 years of commercial Software Engineering experience
  • Proven track record with Angular
  • We work with Angular 15 at the moment, and upgrading as we can
  • Understanding of unit and functional testing
  • Familiar with Agile processes, especially Scrum
  • Passion for writing elegant code and a desire to constantly refactor and improve, with a good understanding of SOLID, design principles and OOP
  • Understanding basic Data Structures and Algorithms

Nice to have

  • Expertise in designing and implementing RESTful APIs within a microservices architecture#
  • Experience with any other major programming language: Python, C#, JavaScript, GoLang, etc.
  • Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure or GCP (We are working with AWS)
  • Experience with non-relational databases like DynamoDB, MongoDB
  • Knowledge of TDD or BDD practices
  • Experience with streaming and queuing solutions (ideally Kafka, Kinesis or SQS)
  • Experience in monitoring applications
